9:00 am Warming Up To An Idea: A practical approach to snare drum practice,

performance and pedagogy. (Hands-on, please bring sticks, a

practice pad or snare drum with an adjustable stand).

9:40 am Getting A Grip On Teaching Mallets. Setting your students up to become

more successful readers. (Hands-on, mallets will be provided)

10:20 am Introducing the Percussionist to Timpani: Ideas for the first timpani

lessons. (Hands-on, please bring timpani mallets. A limited supply will

throughout the day. A “Favorite Picks” solo and ensemble List has been

compiled from area percussionists for your perusal.

 

11:15 am So Your School Has A Vibraphone, Now What? Jazz vibist and

educator Elaine Miller will demonstrate how to get more out of your vibe

players than just reading charts.

1:00 pm Percussion Accessory Instruments-They’re Fun To Play The Right Way.

The proper techniques to get the sounds you want.

proper hand strokes and techniques for many of the world music

instruments encountered in today's educational literature.
