I check this email address regularly;
however, if there is an emergency, please call the Social Science
Department. I am no longer in the
Syracuse area, so I do not keep an office on campus.
I am teaching all courses
online through the SUNY Learning Network.
ALL of my courses are located on the SLN ANGEL server (NOT the OCC ANGEL
server!).
Instructions on how to access your SLN ANGEL online course for Spring 2008: click here
Follow directions
for “Students in SLN ANGEL.”
You must be enrolled at OCC
to take OCC online classes. Here is the
link to the main website for Onondaga Community College: http://www.sunyocc.edu/
Please do not ask
for admission into a course section if it is full—I receive many requests from
students with good reasons, but there is not enough room to accommodate
everyone who wants to add a course. Please keep trying to enroll via WebAccess: https://occweb.sunyocc.edu/WebAdvisor/WebAdvisor?&TOKENIDX=9177056312&TYPE=M&PID=CORE-WBMAIN
This procedure ensures
fairness to all students. Check the
Academic Calendar for the last day to add a course:
HIS 103 & 104 online are
reading and writing intensive courses!
OCC students may want to take ENG 103 before enrolling in HIS 103 or HIS
104. Be prepared to set aside enough
time to complete all assignments on time.
Spring 2008 courses will taught on a 14 week
schedule; Summer 2008 will offer 10 week and 5 week sessions. ALL sections cover an entire semester’s worth
of work! Read everything, follow
directions, and note all deadlines.
Please ask me if you need any help!
If you are new to online
learning, you will want to activate your SLN account
and complete the SLN “Orientation to ANGEL” before your class begins. After the “go live” date, a few days prior to
the official start of the class, you can access your course and look
around. You should be ready to start
course work on the first official day, and plan to log on regularly. Details for each course will be available on
the SLN ANGEL site once the course opens.
At that time you will communicate with me through SLN ANGEL Course Mail,
not by email.
I look forward to meeting you
in class! Textbook
information follows. You will
need to purchase your textbooks as soon as possible. You can use the OCC Bookstore or an online
retailer:
http://students.sunyocc.edu/academics.aspx?title=832&id=1532
You will not be successful
in an online course without your assigned textbooks. You are expected to have your books and be
ready to submit all of your assignments on time.
Best wishes,
Dr. Gaddis : )
Review the
information below carefully. Do not buy previous editions of the
books!
Check the textbook info carefully—obtaining the correct course materials
is crucial to your success in the course! Copies of
each book are on reserve at OCC’s Coulter Library. It is your responsibility to be aware of
library and Academic Computing center operating hours. Check them here:

2008, but the information from last Spring may still be helpful to you. Financial aid issues
should not affect you completing your assignments on time.
