ENV101  Introduction to Environmental Technology (4)
An application of the Earth Sciences as they relate to the environmental issues that face our world community. Topics covered will include: population growth; governmental processes; hazardous materials and their health effects; basic ecology; soils; air and air pollution; water and water pollution; nonhazardous, hazardous and nuclear wastes; pollution prevention and waste minimization.
This class will evaluate the possibility of a global economy which promotes sustainability and discuss ways of increasing the quality of life for the world's population without depleting its resources.
The course will fulfill the requirement for the Geoscience option of the Environmental Technolgy  AAS Degree program and has applications to any of the other program options.  This course consists of three, one-hour classes  and one, three hour laboratory per week.

Grading

*Each exam, including the final, will cover only the material since the preceding test.

*The average of these three tests will count as 50% of your final grade.

*If you are unable to attend an exam you may be allowed to reschedule it if:

         you notify the professor prior to the test and

         you have not missed any other tests this semester

*25% of your grade will be based on the completion of written assignments from the textbook

*The final 25% of your grade will be your lab mark which is based on attendance and the completion of written reports.

*Classroom attendance and the quality of your classroom participation will also be considered in determining your final grade.
