Celebrating our 40th Birthday in 2009!

Delta Kappa Gamma is an honorary society
for women educators. Its mission statement promotes professional and personal
growth of women educators and excellence in education.
Delta Kappa Gamma Society International
was founded May 11, 1929 in Austin,
Texas, by Dr. Annie Webb Blanton.
The Founders, twelve women educators, believed there was a need for an
organization which women educators might be united in efforts toward better
professional preparation, recognition of women’s work in education, and
scholarships for those needing aid in enriching their professional preparation.
Today, Delta Kappa Gamma has around
100,000 members in 3,000 chapters in 17 countries. Membership provides
educational development, friendship, personal rewards, and growth.

The Delta Kappa Gamma Society
International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and
excellence in education.
The Delta Kappa Gamma
Society International Purposes:
- To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual
fellowship
- To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for
distinctive service in any field of education
- To advance the professional interest and position of women in
education
- To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other
suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators
- To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in
pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to women educators from
other countries
- To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and
to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action
- To inform the members of current economic, social, political and
educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world
society.
